Net sales of 40.2 billion TL from Şişecam in the first half

Şişecam, a global player with production activities in 14 countries on four continents and sales in more than 150 countries, announced its financial results for the first half of 2022. In the first half, Şişecam’s consolidated net sales reached 40.2 billion TL, while the share of international sales, which represents the sum of exports from Turkey and sales from overseas production, in consolidated sales was 62 percent. Şişecam, which produced 2.9 million tons of glass in the first half, produced 2.4 million tons of soda ash and approximately 2.1 million tons of industrial raw materials in this period.
Evaluating the first half results, Şişecam General Manager Görkem Elverici said, “As Şişecam, we have successfully continued our growth journey with the practices and transformation projects we have implemented with a common mind. While we continue our way with the goal of being one of the top three players in the world in our main fields of activity, we have invested a total of 2.8 billion TL by continuing our investments that will support the growth of the locomotive sectors we provide inputs. In the first six months of the year, we increased our revenues to 40.2 billion TL. In this period, our exports amounted to 478 million dollars. In the coming period, we will continue to produce and create sustainable value for all our stakeholders.” said.

“We grew up with a holistic development approach”

Görkem Elverici stated that Şişecam continues its growth moves in the first half of this year with a holistic development approach that covers the entire ecosystem, evaluating risks and opportunities, and continued: undergoing a radical transformation. Although the negative effects of the pandemic due to the shutdowns have weakened, COVID-19 remains a global risk. In a period where the world is trying to manage risks such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, hyperinflation, recession, energy shortages and supply chain disruptions, Şişecam displayed a healthy and strong performance, one step closer to its financial targets set for the end of the year.” Elverici stated that risks were managed effectively with a proactive and data-oriented approach in the merger process, which started with the lean and agile ‘One Şişecam’ motto, and said, “Our cost optimization practices, effective production planning, healthy supply chain management and successful crisis resolution skills help us achieve our ambitious goals. Şişecam’s functional-based organizational structure is almost complete. Our more agile and lean organizational structure provides us with the necessary platform to quickly adapt to the changing conditions of the new world. We continue to operate at almost full capacity in our production facilities in 14 countries on 4 continents. We aim to grow twice in the next 5 years with investments that contribute to sustainable growth.” said.

3.4 billion lira frosted glass furnace investment

Stating that they have commissioned new investments in line with the needs and demands of the sector, Elverici reminded that they have decided to invest in a new frosted glass furnace and processing line in the same field with the new flat glass line they are currently maintaining in Mersin in order to seize the opportunities that arise in the solar energy sector and to respond to the rising demand. Stating that this new investment will enable them to take advantage of the opportunities emerging in the global solar energy market and contribute to their strategies to produce sustainable value-added products, Elverici said: While contributing to its growth, we aim to close the supply gap that may arise in the sector.” he said.
