Sapro, which exports its products to six continents and is one of the largest in wet wipes production in Europe, signed a contract with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) in November 2020 to realize the production of Newipe®, a new generation sustainable viscose fabric. ) had received an investment loan of 21 million Euros from the fund provided by the joint venture. With this loan, the company started both R&D studies and production investments, and produced Newipe® using completely natural fibers by combining two different technologies. The wipes, which can decompose into non-toxic components that will not harm the environment when recycled and easily turn into organic matter when dispersed, are expressed as the latest production technology product developed by combining Spunlace and Wetlace technologies. Murat Gönül, General Manager of Sapro Cleaning Products, gave information about the Newipe® technology, which is produced by reducing carbon emissions by 14 percent and can be completely biodegraded in nature more quickly, “As Sapro, we set out to produce environmentally friendly biodegradable wet wipes before the pandemic. With the loan we received, we accelerated our investments and then our R&D studies,” he said, adding that they produced the new generation viscose fabric wet wipes, which are produced with less carbon footprint and can be dissolved faster.
