No official participation from Turkey is foreseen According to the WEF statement, the following names will attend the forum: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Parliament (EP) President Roberta Metsola, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo, President of Colombia Gustavo Petro, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Tshisekedi, Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Greece Kiryakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Ireland Leo Varadkar, Moldova President Maia Sandu, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Ahnush, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Tunisian Prime Minister Necla Buden. It is noteworthy that countries such as the USA, China and Russia will not participate in the forum at the leader level, and no official participation is expected from Turkey. More than 1,500 leaders from approximately 700 different organizations applied to take part in the WEF, which will be held this year with the participation of the largest number of representatives from the business world. Within the scope of the forum, the issues of Russia-Ukraine War, Covid-19 epidemic, technology, energy, climate change, health, migration and international crisis, especially economy, will come to the fore in the sessions. Session titles include “Taking the current energy and food crises in the context of a new energy, climate system,” “existing high inflation associated with investment, trade and infrastructure,” “a new system to leverage leading technologies for private sector innovation and resilience,” “ existing social security gaps in the context of a new job and skills system,” “existing geopolitical risks within the framework of a new system of dialogue and cooperation in a multipolar world”. WEF President Klaus Schwab said in a statement that they are witnessing political, economic and social challenges that are causing increasing fragmentation at the global and national level. “To address the causes of this erosion of trust, we need to strengthen relations between the government and business sectors and create the necessary conditions for a strong and lasting recovery. It should also be acknowledged that no one should be left behind in order to make economic development more resilient and sustainable,” Schwab said. Innovations at the summit this year will include the “Global Collaboration Village,” a metadata repository that encourages more sustainable public-private collaboration and action to achieve impact at scale. The multilateral “metaverse” meeting hosted by the forum for the first time will bring together experts and leaders from the finance, food and retail industries to take action on ocean health and seafood waste.
