“Healthy growth on a sustainable basis”
Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal, in his assessment of financial results, said: “While achieving healthy growth on the basis of sustainability, we have implemented our plans by focusing on reducing risks. Our unwavering priority on quality services, customer experience and value growth has been a major boost to our satisfactory operational and financial performance. We recorded higher-than-expected EBITDA and revenue growth in the first half of the year thanks to our dynamic pricing and customer-focused strategies. We believe that the positive development in consolidated revenue growth will continue for the rest of the year. We are taking firm steps towards our goal of doing our best in Turkey’s journey of transforming into a digital society. With this approach, we also fulfill our responsibility towards all our stakeholders. We revised our investment forecast for 2022 upwards to 13 billion TL.”
“Growth in fiber does not slow down”
Ümit Önal said that his fixed broadband subscribers reached 14.6 million as of the first half of 2022 and continued: “We have seen that the demand for high speed of both new and renewed subscribers has not deteriorated. In the second quarter of 2022, packages of 24 Mbps and above accounted for 55.4 percent of new sales. Our fiber network length, which was 345 thousand km as of the second quarter of 2021, increased to 381 thousand km as of the first half of the year. The fiber network covers 30.8 million households in the first half of 2022, reflecting our focus on stable fiber transformation. Our total number of fiber subscribers increased by 15 points on an annual basis and by 36.4 points since the end of 2019, reaching 10.7 million, constituting 73.5 percent of our total base. According to the European FTTH Council’s ‘European FTTH/B Market Panorama, September 2021’ report published in May 2022, Turkey ranks third in the ‘number of FTTH/B households covered’ in the EU39 comparison, and in the ‘5 fastest growing markets’ (in terms of volume and percentage) ) ranks fourth. This clearly demonstrates Türk Telekom’s leadership and passion for Turkey’s fiberisation.”
