In the latest episode of Naked and Afraid, adventure guide Nicklas Lautakoski and Air Force veteran Laura Thompson-Nelson are dropped into the Australian Outback. After a tumultuous week, Nicklas and Laura are confronted with extreme weather conditions, windstorms, and cold temperatures. After a difficult challenge, Laura’s mental state is deteriorating. She feels like she has been ignored and dismissed at times. During a confrontation with Nicklas, she throws a log into a stream, dousing it with water to begin a fire. Afterwards, she runs to a nearby stream to get more water.

Then, she calls a medic. Nevertheless, she is upset about her failure to get a fire going.

She has to work hard to keep her spirit up. Nicklas also wants to leave her. He asks her to respect his need to focus. However, he doesn’t think she understands the importance of it.

Nicklas and Laura’s relationship deteriorates. Nicklas feels threatened by the presence of Laura. When she leaves, he is sad. But he is also worried about the lack of food. And he is afraid of the heat.

Nicklas’ brain works differently than Laura’s. His thoughts only work in one direction. This can affect his ability to concentrate and make decisions.

Ultimately, Laura’s behavior gets her eliminated from the challenge. Her PSR falls to 4.9. It was the first time she was asked to tap out. Producers wanted her to go home, but she refused.

As for Nicklas, he finishes the challenge with a PSR of 8.1. However, the challenge was not over yet. They filmed an extra episode of Naked and Afraid, which will air later.
