Imam SUN / ISTANBUL Büyükdağ Holding, which developed its business network with sectors such as energy, communication, construction and vehicle inspection after expanding its activities in the food field, which is its main sector, put its new investment plans on the agenda. The holding, which started its activities in energy in 2014 and currently has a solar power plant producing 17 megawatts of power in Şanlıurfa, plans to increase the installed power there. The holding, which has plans for wind energy apart from solar energy, has also obtained its license to establish a charging station for electric cars. Büyükdağ Holding aims to invest 100 million dollars in 5 years for these activities. The holding, which has two hotels in Istanbul and one in Kuşadası, has also started work to reconstruct its 55-room boutique hotel in Kuşadası and turn it into a 250-room 5-star hotel. Having also started a project of 12 villas in Kuşadası, the holding envisages an investment of approximately 30 million dollars for these works. Underlining that they want to invest in the sectors they see as the future, Büyükdağ Holding Chairman of the Board Ali Büyükdağ said, “We will meet 20 percent of the investments from equity. We will also benefit from the revenues of our other companies. We want to keep bank loans at a minimum level,” he said.
4.5 billion TL turnover
Stating that they provided employment to 800 people in the sectors in which they operate, and that they completed the last year with a turnover of approximately 4.5 billion TL, Büyükdağ explained the activities and future targets of the company. Stating that as Büyükdağ Holding, their main business line is sales and marketing, Büyükdağ gave the following information: “We started this business as of 1995. We got the distributorship of Coca Cola and Efes Pilsen in Istanbul. We do about 15 percent of the distribution of Anadolu Group. We serve 45 thousand points on a daily basis. We are also the largest distributor of Mey İçki. We also have a business partnership with Turkcell. We serve as a solution center. Our activities in the field of energy started in 2014. A solar company producing 17 megawatts of power in Şanlıurfa “We have a power plant. We also have a vehicle inspection station in Tunceli.”
100 million dollars allocated to energy
Mentioning that they are preparing for a solar power plant investment, Büyükdağ said, “We are in talks to purchase a solar power plant in the first place. We believe that solar and wind energy investments are the future of Turkey and the world. As a company, we are very enthusiastic about green energy investments. We also want to increase the installed power in our current solar power plant. In this context, we want to invest $100 million in energy within 5 years. Energy has become a very valuable and strategic field due to the increase in energy prices, hikes and laws enacted. As a result of the investment, we will exceed 100 megawatts,” he said.
It is building a 5-star hotel in Kusadasi
Büyükdağ stated that they predicted that the tourism sector will reach much better points in the future considering the increasing number of tourists and the revenues obtained recently, and continued as follows: “Within this framework, we will rebuild our 55-room boutique hotel in Kuşadası. We started working to build our 250-room 5-star hotel. Again, we are starting a villa project in Kuşadası. We foresee an investment of approximately 30 million dollars in tourism and real estate here. We have housing projects in Güneşli and Sefaköy in Istanbul. We will continue to invest in our hotels in Karaköy and Taksim. We believe that Turkey, which is a world-class brand in the tourism sector, will come to much better points. We will work to bring foreign tourists with high spending capacity to our country.”
To establish a charging station for electric vehicles
Emphasizing that energy is becoming more important every day, Büyükdağ said that it is one of the most important investment items of the holding. Expressing that they have obtained a license to establish a car charging station, Büyükdağ Holding Chairman of the Board Ali Büyükdağ said, “The number of charging stations should increase rapidly for electric cars whose usage will increase in the future. We will start to set up our charging stations in a very short time. Together with TOGG, we also accelerated. We want to spread them all over Turkey. In accordance with the license we obtained in the first stage, 50 of our charging stations will be activated. After that, we will enter a quick installation process. We will increase the number of charging stations,” he said.
