Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, made evaluations about Turkey’s exploration and production activities in the oil and gas field at the 14th Hydrocarbon Exploration-Production Sector Consultation Meeting. Emphasizing that they have focused on drilling activities on land as well as in the seas in recent years, Dönmez said, “We have produced 354 million barrels of crude oil and approximately 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas with new discoveries in the last 20 years. If we take today’s prices as a base, domestic crude oil production of 28.3 billion dollars We have realized 13 billion dollars of domestic gas production,” he said. Noting that 33 times the amount of 16.5 billion cubic meters of gas produced throughout the history of the Republic was captured only with a single discovery in the Black Sea, Dönmez said, “I hope we continue to drill new wells in the Black Sea, and we will. As we said before, it will come back, stay tuned.” . Crude oil production increased by 20% Stating that 15 billion dollars were invested in oil exploration and production activities in the last 21 years, 63 percent of these investments were made by Turkish Petroleum, and 37 percent by the private sector and foreign investors, Dönmez said, “As of 2022, 30 of them are domestic and 10 of them are domestic. A total of 40 foreign companies are currently continuing their exploration and production activities,” he said. Dönmez pointed out that while the crude oil production was 85.4 million barrels in the period of 2012-2016, this figure increased to 104.6 million barrels in the period of 2017-2021, when we look at the 5-year periods. “Our 10-month crude oil production has reached 20.6 million barrels in private and public, and our natural gas production has reached 326.6 million cubic meters,” he said. “Our activities continue in 505 oil license” Dönmez underlined that the domestic oil production has reached 80,000 barrels together with the private sector and the public, and reminded that they have set the target of domestic oil production of 100 thousand barrels per day, public-private, among their 2023 targets. Pointing out that Turkey has become one of the countries where exploration activities are most intense in terms of the number of active towers, Dönmez said, “Even if it is a drop of oil, we will extract our domestic resources and bring them into the country’s economy.” Minister Dönmez continued as follows: “In 2022, our activities continue in a total of 505 oil licenses, of which 349 are exploration and 156 operating licenses. This is the highest number we have reached in the last 5 years. It is also reflected in. In terms of state share revenues, we achieved an income of approximately 5 billion liras in the 10-month period of 2022, reaching the highest amount ever.”
