VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, Government & Academic Research, Communications Sector - Menlo Park, CA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Needham, MA or Cranford, NJ

Functional Duties of Position:

Business Sphere Leader: Responsible for business development for survey research with the communications sector, public relations firms, trade associations professional societies, member organizations, other clients. Contribute to the development of strategic plans for the growth of the business working closely with senior management. Develop marketing materials and utilize public forums of all types to increase Knowledge Network's image with current and potential customers. Closely coordinate all marketing activities with the KN marketing department. Monitor progress towards achieving plan goals and conduct quarterly reviews of business objectives. Participate in client satisfaction assessments as an opportunity to establish relationships with customers and identify opportunities.

  • Capture Team Leader. Identify new accounts in the communications sectors and develop and execute account plans for capturing business from the new accounts. Set up and present KN survey research and analytic capabilities to the new accounts. Target major procurements for KN to pursue at existing and new accounts. Identify opportunities early. Position KN with prospect prior to RFP release or sell through IDIQ, Task Order, or non-competitive procurement mechanisms. Lead proposal effort and follow though to close of deal. Build strategic alliances with key firms for pursuing large scale research contracts.
  • Proposal Coordinator. For major proposals to be submitted to communications sector clients, take the lead in assembling the proposal team, making writing assignments, identifying subcontractors, and consultants. Enforce the schedule and incorporate time for blue and red team reviews. Ensure quality control of final documents. Coordinate budget review and assess competitive pricing position. Win strategic procurements.
  • Senior Account Manager. On key accounts maintain close customer contact, insure quality of work, and maximize opportunities for expansion of project or follow-on business. Work closely with operational manager and project team to build consulting capital to foster more business opportunities. Project may be handed off later or depending on customer and potential of growth for the project.

The VP will develop a marketing plan each year that has specific target clients, expected procurements with their value, and a prioritized list of new prospects to pursue. Annual revenue target is $2mm. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan to achieve long term goals for growth, market position, and profitability. The VP would obviously coordinate development of such a plan with others deemed critical to this effort.
