Survey Research Methodologist,
Director of Survey Methods Group - Menlo Park, CA

The survey research methodologist will design and conduct studies using KnowledgePanel and other relevant populations as appropriate. This is a research and operations position that covers a broad range of methodological topics. Under the direction of KN’s chief statistician and with guidance from the Panel Steering Group, the survey research methodologist will conduct studies to advance the operational efficiency and scientific quality of KnowledgePanel. This position will team with other group directors and staff to design and conduct quantitative and qualitative research to consistently improve Web questionnaire design, survey response rates, ABS recruitment and other areas relevant to panel quality as necessary. The survey research methodologist is expected to present research findings at professional conferences and to prepare and publish papers in peer-reviewed journals. The position is based in Menlo Park, California and reports to the Chief Statistician.

Essential Functions:

  • Work closely with the Statistics and Profile groups and the Panel Management team to conduct well-designed quantitative and qualitative research to consistently improve Web questionnaire design, survey response rates, ABS recruitment and other areas relevant to panel quality as necessary.
  • Support the research agenda of the Panel Steering Group and successfully implement initiatives to optimize results as stated in point A above.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the look and feel of KN online surveys as we transition out of the WebTV environment and implement state-of-the-science Web questionnaire design features.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 4+ years relevant research and operational experience with an online panel organization/survey research organization
  • A track record of success in implementing state-of-the-science methods in online survey questionnaire design to optimize measurement quality and response rates
  • Advanced degree in Survey Research, Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field
  • A track record of professional presentations and published research a plus
  • Experience with data management and reporting using multiple databases
  • Proficiency with SPSS and/or SAS
  • Proficiency with MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience managing multiple projects at a time
