Studies in the News Based on KnowledgePanel®

On behalf of CBS News, after President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress, we asked KnowledgePanel® members who were watching the speech their opinions; these were cited in

  • Coverage on CBSNEWS.com conveyed that after viewing President Obama's speech, 80% of people approved of his plans for dealing with the economic crisis – a higher figure than when viewers were surveyed before his speech at 63% approval.
  • The Atlantic's website, which carried the 2/26/09 Pew article "Truth over Happiness" written by Jodie Allen (senior editor) and Richard Auxier (researcher) of the Pew Research Center.
  • U.S. News & World Report's article by Kenneth T. Walsh, "Obama Balances Economic Optimism and Realism in First Address to Congress" (2/25/09).
  • The New York Times (Frank Rich's 3/1/09 article, "The Ecstasy and the Agony")
  • Karlyn Bowman's (of the American Enterprise Institute) 3/2/09 article for Forbes.com: "The Irrepressible American Optimism"

In an April 8 article ("Which Is Epidemic—Sexting or Worrying About It?"), The Wall Street Journal references Knowledge Networks' representative panel as an alternative to opt-in panels – including a key chart that shows clear differences between the two panel types, which focuses on people who spend more than 10 hours per week on the Internet.
